Many churches that would otherwise have purchased an acrylic lecturn, purchase a Procson lectern instead.
Why is this? Some churches say it is because they like the look. They say that when compared to a traditional wooden lectern or acrylic lecturn, it is less distracting because of the simple shape. Many say that just having the single stem means there is less of a barrier between the preacher and the congregation.
Some prefer the Arc over an acrylic lecturn because of more practical reasons. They like how light it is for people to move around. This helps to prevent potential back injuries or strain that can be caused by heavier lecterns. Sound and lighting people like that it has only one shiny surface and that it can be ordered with anti reflective film. This means that there are no unwanted reflections onto a projector screen or background. An acrylic lecturn in contrast has many surfaces that can cause reflection issues.
The Arc2 and Arc3 lecterns represent a new generation of lecterns that cause less of a barrier between the speaker and are more practical in terms of stage management and lighting when compared to the traditional acrylic lecturn.
